Profane Death Exodus

Deadpanist I was always interested in hearing a band that would use fretless instruments in an agressive (metal) setting. Diabolic Oath's album is an heavyweight all-round but those serpentine riffs and passages makes it truly unique.

Tampertronics My only criticism of this album is that the drums are a bit too loud in the mix and sometimes obscure the guitars. And I really want to hear those guitars because they sound incredible. This album is chock full of ideas, each band member gives an amazing performance, and I'm resisting listening to it too much because I want to savour it. This is the good stuff.
EDIT: Just learned the guitar sounds so amazing because it, along with the bass, is fretless! Even more respect to this incredible band. Favorite track: Morbid Ekstasis.

bcb723 This is pretty brutal shit right here. The production is on point to let the riffs (so many riffs...) really stand out. And I'm not going to even begin to describe the insane and towering vocals. Great flow to the album also that really should be heard in one sitting for the weight of the last track to fully hit you. Heavy beyond heavy, "Profane Death Exodus" will stay with you for a long while after listening. Favorite track: Opening the Gates to Blasphemic Domination.

DudeguyJones What begins with absolute savagery grows into something textured and nuanced. Yet still entirely savage. Please get yourself some extra undies and maybe a mop and tell your loved ones not to open the door no matter what they think is happening within. Favorite track: Opening the Gates to Blasphemic Domination.

"When the tempos slow down, there is no hiding, you either have riffs to put on display, or you’re a failed experiment. And Diabolic Oath not only have riffs for days, real fucking riffs, but they also hurdle them toward you in huge fucking clusters like the inescapable metal treads of a massive fucking tank that’s about to squash you like an insect." - CVLT Nation

"The amount of uncompromising brutality that Diabolic Oath deals out on their debut full-length album, “Profane Death Exodus,” is almost unfathomable. This blackened death metal act from Portland, OR summons forth a punishing release with endless amounts of cataclysmic aggression...I highly recommend this album for extreme music fiends, especially those looking to step into a gateway of unrelenting brutality." - Rock and Metal Temple

"The bar for extremity is always being moved up" - Decibel

"As insane as death metal has been in recent years, there are a select few releases that truly stand above the rest. Add DIABOLIC OATH to that list for what they bring to the table decimates everything in their god forsaken path." - Heaviest of Art

"The tripartite vocals are as terrifying as the apocalyptic sounds around them, veering from abyssal roars to deranged shrieks and shattering howls. The combined impact of these sounds is overwhelming, but preternatural leads rise up in extravagant fashion from within the thunderous cataclysm, spiraling and wailing in dismal and esoteric tones, as if manifesting the appearance of phantasms in the midst of world-ending calamity. Damned harrowing and brutally destructive music to be sure, but with a simultaneous aura of blood-freezing, imperious mysticism as well." - NCS
